The 0800 779 997 Government Helpline has been activated to assist people needing financial and other support following the November 14 earthquake, Acting Civil Defence Minister Gerry Brownlee and Social Development Minister Anne Tolley say.

The 0800 779 997 number will operate seven days a week from 7am to 9pm until further notice.

CCS Disability Action supports more investment in the early years of a disabled child’s life. Overseas evidence has shown that disabled children receive generally the same benefits, or even greater, from early childhood education as their non-disabled peers. It is vital that disabled students fully participate in early childhood education.

CCS Disability Action Chief Executive, David Matthews, said his organisation was set up 80 years ago because young disabled children were not getting a fair go – and this is still the situation we face today.

Accessible Arts invites you to attend the fifth biennial Arts Activated Conference, in Sydney Australia. The theme of the Conference, Pathways to Practice, explores the varied and interesting paths that artists with disability take in developing their practice during their career and how organisations are fostering pathways for artists and audiences with disability. This conference is relevant for the arts, community and disability sectors, and particularly also for government agencies and funding bodies.
