Home to home support
Most families and whanau and children need a break from each other at some time.
It’s not always easy though to find the right person to provide that break. Our Home to Home Service might be able to help. You and your child or teen can enjoy regular short quality breaks from each other and get to know and make friends with someone outside the family home.
Support we can offer
(We are sorry - but we are not currently able to offer this in the Wairarapa)
- We can help to match you with trained volunteers to arrange either one-off or regular time out (or respite)
- Provide a home environment for people who require relief care (time-out)
- Ensure that carers (and other adults in the home) are assessed as being a good match for the person with a disability, and the family
All carers (and other adults in the carer's home) are fully screened prior to them registrationg with Home to Home - through a series of interviews, police checks, doctor's check and two references. Carers receive ongoing training, including emergency first aid and disability awareness. We regularly monitor all placements to ensure the needs of all parties are being addressed.
There is no charge involved when accessing the Home to Home Service. Your local NASC agency will determine the number of carer support days available.
