Access advisory service

Accessibility is about people. All people experience barriers from time to time. People with disabilities are people first and their disability is secondary.

People with disabilities have the right to:

  • Work
  • Go on holiday
  • Be educated up to tertiary level with non disabled peers
  • Travel without fuss on public transport
  • Go to the movies
  • Shop
  • Enjoy outdoor sport
  • Have a social life
  • Contribute to the community 
  • Have choices of association

CCS Disability Action advocates for access on three levels:

    • Our National Office has an advisory role with some government departments to create policy in relation to access issues
    • The Regional Access Advisor provides access advice on a regional basis and as a registered Barrier Free Advisor may undertake barrier free audits on public or private facilities to ensure accessibility
    • The Local Access Committee undertakes the responsibility to lobby local councils and property owners where access issues have been identified
