Early intervention

This programme is for children who have two or more needs that affect their ability to live an ordinary life and enjoy typical childhood experiences.

These needs may be:

  • Physical
  • Social
  • Understanding and thinking
  • Movement
  • Feeding
  • Sensory impairment
  • Self care
  • Communication

Our team

Our team can work with you so that you and your child can be supported to access experiences that all pre-schoolers enjoy with a particular focus oon learning and participation.

  • Occupational therapist
  • Physiotherapist
  • Speech and language therapist
  • Family support worker
  • Early intervention teacher

How does it work?

You need to be referred to us by a paediatrician. One of our family support workers can visit you to discuss the programme and what support needs you have. At least two other members of the team will assess your child’s need and confirm with you if this is the right programme. You are given the team’s summary assessment report.

If this is the right programme for you, we will work out a home visiting plan with you. If your child goes to an early childhood Centre, some of the visits will be made there, so staff there can participate in the programme.

As your child grows and their needs change, we will discuss this with you and adjust their programme as needed.
