Te Whare Poipoi
Te Whare Poipoi provides planned respite for children and young people who have high and complex physical care needs.
Te Whare Poipoi is a four bedroom family-friendly home that is available for planned respite and breaks. The team at the whare have been carefully selected for their qualities, skills and experience, and are committed to providing a safe and fun environment for children and young people.
The service is available for children and young people (aged 0 to 16 years) who have high and complex physical care needs - and is funded by the Ministry of Health.
Te Whare Poipoi offers:
- A large family-friendly home that is fully accessible
- 24 hour care, 7 days a week
- Outdoor play equipment, within a fenced section
- Activities like arts, crafts, music and tactile play
- Opportunity to join in with activities in the community, such as the library, gyms, parks and aquatic centre
- A van with a chair hoist
All children and young people that stay at the whare have a care plan which is developed with parents. Te Whare Poipoi staff can visit you at your home to meet your family and learn about your child’s needs and interests.
