Hours: Permanent, part-time (10 hours per week)

Job specific information

This position involves working with all disabled people in their community, not limited to, but with a focus on the physical environment that will lead to an increase in people being able to gain access to the ordinary places, activities and opportunities within their chosen community life.

Ideally the successful applicant will have:

  • Experience in a service delivery organisation.

  • Understanding of the disability sector and ability to relate to disabeld people in a positive affirming manner.

  • Understanding of and commitment to the philosophy of inclusion.

  • Knowledge of access issues.

  • Lobbying and advocacy skills.

  • Training and facilitation skills.

  • Creativity, lateral thinking and be solution focused.

  • Ability to initiate projects, and to work independently and in collaboration.

  • Ability to interpret legislation and policy, to research, analyse and respond, including the writing of submissions.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

This position is based in our Tauranga office, with travel within the wider Bay of Plenty Region anticipated. This opportunity is part of a dynamic team who share a genuine belief in human rights and active communities.

CCS Disability Action delivers regular services to over 5,000 people with disabilities, making us one of the largest disability support service providers in New Zealand.
