The Pou Arahi will promote Māori Disabled Leadership and support the service delivery aims of the organisation by embedding the Manawa - Māori Leadership Framework and Te Ao, Te Ao, Te Reo Māori Strategy in the practice of the staff across the region. The Pou Arahi will lead, plan, organise and implement Karanga Maha throughout the Southern Region.

The role involves relationship building, support and administration and to provide support as well as facilitating quality education and awareness programmes internally and externally with Whānau Hauā to community organisations, businesses, schools, and the wider community.

About the role

The position is a leadership role that will promote Māori Disabled Leadership and the perspective and reality for Whānau Hauā Māori disabled people within CCS Disability Action and the whānau, hapū, iwi and community.

  • Facilitate the development of Manawa, the Māori Leadership and Development Action Plan for the Southern region and its branches.

  • Provide support and guidance to Regional Leadership Team members.

  • Work directly with Coordinators and Support Workers who are supporting whanau haua within the region.

  • Facilitate or provide connection to cultural supervision opportunities.

  • Develop, Plan, Organise, Implement and attend Karanga Maha - Many Voices hui within the Southern Region.

  • Connect whanau haua with appropriate supports and networks.

  • Participate in, and contribute to, Te Pou Whirinaki meetings and events.

  • Effectively manage and support external and internal stakeholder relationships

  • Support the positive relationship between whānau, Hapū, iwi Māori and community.

  • Competent to think strategically to progress Māori development and works inclusively within a diverse community, internally and externally.

The Pou Ārahi will contribute to ongoing service delivery through the development of competence of staff within the region. They will build internal and external relationships that are positive and focused on the well-being of disabled people.

About you

You will have:

  • You will have an understanding of the disability sector and ability to relate to Whānau Hauā disabled people.

  • Prior experience in a Learning and Development role including administration in Learning Management Systems.

  • Preferably some eLearning design skills.

  • Advanced organisational skills, attention to detail as well as the ability to handle multiple assignments.

  • Ability to relate to diverse range of people.

  • Competent with Te Ao Māori practices, Te Reo Māori and Tikanga.
